A 1950s East Berlin power plant, 18-metre concrete ceilings, and a Funktion-One system that hits you in the chest. Since 2004 Berghain has been techno's cathedral. The name joins Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain, the two districts it sits between. It's hard and hypnotic downstairs, house upstairs in Panorama Bar, and Klubnacht runs from Saturday night into Monday morning. Phone cameras get stickered at the entrance. Getting past the door is the hardest part but Club Scene admins did it.
